A call-for-help button for the sauna: up to 110°C and high-pressure washing

A standard nurse call device developed for saunas and thermal zones: construction and materials for 110°C and regular high-pressure washing, with a light that helps guests find the button.

01 / Investment context

What problem had to be solved?

Typical call buttons are not used in a sauna. The temperature in the cabin reaches 110°C, and the room is cleaned regularly with a high-pressure washer. GORKE’s catalogue buttons work from −10 to +55°C, so they are not suitable for use inside a sauna.

Yet it is precisely in a hot cabin that a guest may feel faint, because high temperature puts strain on the circulation. Someone who feels faint cannot always get out alone — it must be possible to call for help at once, from inside the cabin.

Then there is visibility: in a steamy, poorly visible interior a guest must find the button easily, even on a first visit to that sauna.

The investor’s goal: A call for help straight from the high-temperature zone, without leaving the sauna, with a button that withstands 110°C and high-pressure washing.

What was designed?

The starting point was a standard GORKE nurse call device. Instead of fitting the sauna to a ready-made button, GORKE fitted the button to the sauna: the construction and materials were chosen for work at temperatures up to 110°C and for regular high-pressure washing.

The button has a light that helps guests find it in the steamy interior. The guest sends the call straight from the high-temperature zone — there is no need to leave the cabin or look for staff.

Where the call goes and who answers it is agreed with the site, as with any nurse call system — together with the mounting position in the cabin and the way it is cleaned.

02 / Operating principle

From signal to action.

A call button developed for work in a sauna: it withstands 110°C and high-pressure washing, and a light helps guests find it.

The guest calls for help straight from the high-temperature zone.

  2. 02 / Reception

Call System As agreed with the site

Passes the call to the people who respond to it.

  3. 03 / Notification

    Staff Outside the sauna

Receives the call from inside the cabin.

Guests call for help without leaving the hot cabin. Catalogue buttons work up to +55°C, so the construction and materials were chosen for 110°C and high-pressure washing.

03 / Installation components

Devices

Custom design, not in the catalogue: a button for work at temperatures up to 110°C, resistant to high-pressure washing, with a light signal. GORKE’s catalogue buttons work from −10 to +55°C and are not intended for use inside a sauna.

We will choose the devices for a similar site once we have talked about its conditions.

04 / Value for the investor

What does this solution give you?

Help from inside the sauna

Guests call for help where they felt unwell instead of trying to leave the hot cabin — and the call goes to the people who respond to it.

Withstands heat and washing

The construction and materials are chosen for 110°C and regular high-pressure washing, so the button does not force a change in how the sauna is cleaned.

Easy to find

The light signal shows where the button is in the steamy interior, even to a guest who is in that sauna for the first time.

05 / Before installation

What needs to be settled for a similar investment?

Before devices are chosen, what matters is the site’s conditions and how the system ties into the final installation.

Requirements to verify

  • Temperature, humidity and exposure time at the mounting point — the height in the cabin matters, because it is hottest under the ceiling.
  • Cleaning agents and method: pressure, water temperature and the chemicals used.
  • Where the call is to go, who answers it and how the call is ended.
  • The number of cabins and buttons — a custom design is prepared for the conditions of a specific site, not chosen from the catalogue.
